We became 2023 Vice Champions at Brands Hatch in November 2023.
We had a great test day on the Friday and we were fastest in every session and things were looking good for the final Mini Challenge Race weekend at Brands Hatch. In the last session of the day I had an accident and damaged my race car, my #17 and my pride and joy that had been so fast and reliable all year, could not be be raced at the weekend. I was distraught :(
Luckily my team had brought a spare car and after a bit of fiddling with seat positions etc. I was happy with the car and went to bed on Friday knowing we had a big task ahead of us to win the Championship.
We went into qualifying and I only managed 3 laps before a radiator hose came off, but still this was good enough for third on the grid.
Race one was a bit stop start with the rain and we only completed 9 laps two of these behind the safety car so I didn't manage to go forward. Nonetheless we finished in third . This was a bitter disappointment for me as it meant that I couldn't win the overall championship.
Still I gave it everything in race 2 and got fourth place, again after more laps behind the safety car.
Race 3 was another fourth position which meant we finished in SECOND PLACE in the Mini Challenge Cooper Class for 2023 and VICE CHAMPION.
We would have love to have been crowned Champion but it wasn't to be. We will go into 2024 with a new challenge which will be announced soon. I would like to thank all of my team, supporters, partners and Jason my No. 1 for everything you have done for me this year and look forward to exciting times ahead.
